Consultation Services

I have worked in the field of landscape architecture since 2005, and have recently expanded my work into consulting on growing, preparing, and sharing great food. Through From the Ground Up PDX, LLC, I offer guidance on starting a veggie garden, incorporating edible plants into the ornamental landscape, growing edible and non-edible plants in our particular northwest climate, cooking and eating with the seasons, thinking "outside the recipe", taking advantage of our local bounty of people and organizations dedicated to fantastic food, introducing your children to growing and enjoying veggies, and getting the most joy and fulfillment out of feeding yourself and your family each day.

My fee for consultations is $50 per hour, with free travel within the Portland metro area.  I'm more than happy to travel further for an additional fee to cover my transportation costs.   I can also offer email/phone consultations for those who are further afield and don't need my physical presence.  I tailor my services to the needs of each of my clients, and am happy to work with small groups, in which case my hourly fee can be split among several individuals.

Past services have included:

• creating a veggie garden plan, complete with a calendar of gardening tasks
• in-home cooking/canning/jam-making workshops (kids welcome!)
• meal-planning strategies and recipes for healthy, delicious, and seasonal eating
• guidance for planting, pruning, and training fruit trees and berry bushes
• and of course landscape design services
